China Will Lack 1100MHz of Mobile Spectrum by 2020 2016-09-08

Source:C114

China has constructed world's largest 4G network with the hugest user base worldwide, Kan Runtian, deputy director general of the Radio Regulations Bureau, MIIT, said at Wireless China Industry Summit 2016 recently.

However, the structural contradiction of spectrum resources becomes acute increasingly. It is estimated by ITU that China's demand for mobile spectrum will reach 1300-1800MHz by 2020 with a lack of 1100MHz of public mobile spectrum. The undeveloped high frequency band, in particular, brings new requirements and challenges to the radio management for China.

It pointed out that China will expand the incremental resources, improve the efficiency of spectrum and continue to support dynamic spectrum sharing. China's approach in the band of 2300-200MHz & 5100-5200MHz, for instance, is static sharing, which works well.
