D: TD-LTE system adopted new techniques like OFDM and MIMO. Concerning coverage character and plan, compared with GSM and TD-SCDMA, which aspects influence TD-LTE network plan?

 

W: The network planning’s overall process of TD-LTE is similar with TD-SCDMA, both including five stages from data acquisition, wireless network scale estimation, site survey, wireless network simulation to performance evaluation and adjustment; However, the detailed operation in each stage is not exactly the same, changes exist both in wireless side and network side. Especially in wireless side, different frequencies causing different losses, multiple antennas MIMO of 7 modes, same frequency interference, different scramblers, different dispatching algorithm and strategies, varieties of types of users services and different Qos requirements. In network side, all is the same except for network structure。

 

Demands come from operators

 

D: Combined with these new changes, for current stage of TD-LTE trail network construction, which specific requirements operators issued regarding TD-LTE network planning and tools?

 

W: TD-LTE network planning tools took reference from relatively mature TD-SCDMA network planning tools, acquired a great quantity of valuable experience and accelerated its developing progress. On the other hand, TD-LTE network planning tools present LTE specific characteristics in some amount of modules containing business model, admission control, interference calculation, power control, dynamic scheduling, MIMO mode, ICIC, adjacent cell configuration and Physical cell ID planning. All modules mentioned here provide an effective way for LTE’s network construction, key technical identification and parameter setup.

 

Follow-up evolution

 

D: Along with continuous trail network construction, which new features need to add into TD-LTE network planning tools in the next step to fit multiple network and TD-LTE internationalization?

 

W: LTE characteristics will be integrated into TD-LTE network planning tools progressively through more complex progresses, such as: dynamic frequency domain scheduling and semi-static ICIC, so as to fully present advancement of LTE techniques; meanwhile, this also provides critical reference regarding switching on functions mentioned above, parameters configuration and effect presenting. Besides, concerning multiple network coexistence, important issues like intersystem collaborative coverage and intersystem mutual operation are paid high attention in TD-LTE network planning tools.
